HackerSafe Security Scanning - Frequently Asked Questions

Do all web sites need to be HackerSafe certified?
Any web site that collects, retains or transmit confidential information needs to be HackerSafe certified at the individual site level. If your web site is ecommerce, you are required to be PCI Compliant by the credit companies. Find out more about PCI compliance here.

Will the HackerSafe certification logo have an impact to my ecommerce conversion rate?

Is HackerSafe Certification included with all
Beyond Email hosting solutions?

Our hosting environment is HackerSafe certified at the operating system level. Certification of your individual web site or sites is an optional service available on all our hosting plans. Contact us to add this option to your
hosting plan.

What is the difference between certification at the operating system level and site level?
Beyond Email ensures that our overall hosting environment is HackerSafe. However, each site on
our servers uses different programming languages, methods and techniques to deliver content. Vulnerabilities may exist on a specific web site that
will only impact that site. This is why certification is recommended at the individual site level.

What if I don’t host with Beyond Email, can I still
have my web site HackerSafe certified?
Yes you can. Our partnership with ScanAlert allows us to extend our HackerSafe Certification services to all our clients, even if you don’t host at our data centers.

How exactly does it work?
HackerSafe’s patented technology provides daily security scans of our servers and your web site. If the scan is “clean”, the HackerSafe logo is prominently displayed on your website. If the scan detects a new vulnerability, the hackersafe logo is removed from your site. Our staff is notified of the potential issue and it is corrected within 48 hours. After a “clean” scan, the HackerSafe logo displays again.

What if the correction can’t be made in 48 hours?
Once our staff receives notification of a vulnerability, it is addressed at top priority. Most of the vulnerabilities require simple adjustments to your site and can be addressed within the 48 hour window. However, occasionally more extensive work is required. Our staff will be in contact when this is the case.

If adjustments to a site are required to be HackerSafe, will I be billed for the work?
Beyond Email will never bill you for vulnerability at the operating system level. Adjustments required for your specific site to be certified will be done at our standard hourly maintenance rate. Generally if any major vulnerabilities are identified, they will be known after the first scan is done. Our experience is that first scans require the most extensive corrections. Estimates can be provided prior to beginning the work.

How much does HackerSafe certification cost?
Because our hosting environments are HackerSafe certified on a global level, we are able to offer HackerSafe certification for your individual web site at very aggressive pricing to you. Pricing is based on activity to your web site per month and starts out at just $35 per month.
